(Medicine cabinet project)
In my previous- now deleted- blog post I was full of doom and gloom. Point of fact, I was extremely depressed this morning and quite scatter-brained. If dreary content wasn't enough to scare people away, I noticed something ghastly! I didn't stay in the same tense. That never happens! I've never had that problem. So, it was a very good thing I snuck off to the bedroom and laid down for a little bit with my kitties.
Kitties are a rather sad subject as of late. My Mom's cat, Felan, had to be put to sleep. She was so sick and there was nothing anyone could have done for her anyway, or so the vet told my Mom. And now it seems my cat, Yoda, has something wrong with him. He doesn't have mange, of that we're sure, but he does have little scabbed over ouchies around one ear, down and around his neck, and down his spine. At first we thought it was just scratching from a drier climate and nerves, but it doesn't seem to be going away and he's getting a bit cranky. So, we are going to try and find a vet who will work with a financially destitute girl (meaning me).
I was very busy during the month of December. I didn't really get a lick of writing done. I was out shopping for this or for that with my gf's family or her mother, cleaning, took two trips to two different casinos, had Christmas, and got ready for New Years. We have company visiting (Cousin Kitty Kat), and I have home work yet to do. I don't want to do it and i think some of my reluctance to has been that I haven't seen how my courses are going to play into what I want to do. What I want to do and what they keep talking about as far as careers go aren't matching up and this is giving me some serious doubts. Doubts are not good thing to have right now.
However, amidst all the doubts, depression, and anxiety I did manage to get three artsy projects started and completed before New Years. I didn't have a goal or anything, it was just something I felt like doing. I still have yet to get curtains done for my bedroom but the bedroom has been rearranged and is so much better. The medicine cabinet above was one of those projects. It used to be a creamy yellow with burgundy roses all over it. As you can see it's a bit different now and I like it much better. The cabinet was purchased at a garage sale a couple of years ago.
My second and third projects were purchased on a 'half off of everything' day at a thrift store. The first was a spice rack that mounts to a wall only the spices didn't fit. So I painted it purple, mounted it to my bedroom wall, and it now houses lotions, perfumes, and nail polish. The third was... well I'm not sure what it was the guy at the shop said it looked to have been a cage of sometime. I cleaned it up, painted it, and it now houses all the tea.
Other than that, I've cleaned the kitchen and am waiting for the hamburger to thaw so I can make a casserole for dinner.
