Messes, productivity, and nap time?

Narcisa is turning into a chair thief and a camera tease.
You know those moments where you're doing some organization- or trying to- and it seems like you just made a bigger mess than the one you had? Yeah, I had that moment yesterday. I decided it was time to get the Monster High Dolls out and put them up for display an learned that I am missing one. I also got all the blind bag My Little Ponies out and put them up. Because I felt so industrious, I decided to try to organize my books. That was stupid! I think I made the office/library messier than it was, I realized that I am missing some series books, and that those books are probably on the shelves I can't get to because we still have a couple of boxes to go through. I then tried to clean off and organize my desk but quickly gave up when I realized that I was just slipping some things into the desk drawer instead of actually dealing with them. Granted, I don't really have anywhere else to put them, but still!

Here are a few pictures of what I did get accomplished.

Some of my books.I used to have a ton of Dragon Lance novels, but I downsized several years ago and go rid of the ones I didn't think I was going to read.

Some MLP and Monster High

More MLP and some Monster High

My Grandma just sent me these shelves and this is what I used them for.

Monster High. I am missing my Jinafire Long doll. We also have a lot of Abby because a friend of ours loved her and then she ended up giving us her dolls.

I picked up and vacuumed the living room yesterday. The maintenance men finally came to replace my bathroom fan. It sounds weird but at least it isn't the rattle that threatened to fly out and eat me. I have the kitchen and cleaning the bathroom left to do today. I will get to that in a little bit. I've been going since 4:30 am. I had to take Amanda to work and then go to the store, which reminds me that I need to go get the groceries out of the car. I left them in the trunk so I could come in and eat breakfast.

So aside from some cleaning and taking a shower later, I have a lot of food prep to do. I'll have to lean up the kitchen first, of course, then start cutting veggies, fruit, and meat to freeze. That always takes awhile but I figure I will listen to some music and just zone out for awhile.

I was thinking about taking a nap, but I don't know if I will have time. Maybe, but I need to get the groceries inside first. It might only be 50 degrees F right now, but I still need to get the milk, butter, coffee creamer, and cheese into the fridge.

Lastly, the morning that it rained, I'd forgotten to take my allergy meds and opened the windows to hear the thunderstorms during the day. I did not go outside but company that mows the apartment complex lawns was out and about doing just that. So this is what happens to me, you can't see a lot, but I broke out in hives. It sucks!

Don't stop rockin your right to fright! School, books, and a Jeep!

We recently bought (splurged when we really shouldn't have) Monster High: Frights, Camera, Action! I've seen it twice and even though I figured out the plot pretty quickly (I generally tend to do that with most movies and even books), I really really liked it. But then again my favorite character is Draculara. Anyway, the song has been stuck in my head for the last couple of days and it would probably help if I quit listening to it... But it's so damned catchy!

My college called again. This time it was my personal adviser. Apparently one of my classes is really heavy and not a lot of fun so she wants to see if we can change it around. I don't know why, I am going to have to take it anyway. It's one of the required. I called her back but she was out of the office so I am waiting to hear back from her. I'll just see what she has to say and see what else we can do. I need to know soon so I know what books I need and how much they are going to cost.

*edit: I just got off the phone with my adviser. She is really great and wanted to tell me about a different math class that is so much better. There's a wait list so we decided to just put me in a fiction workshop instead and do the new math class at a later date. Works for me! (excited!)

Speaking of books, I am reading one called Witch Fire. I actually read the 2nd book first (because I invariably seem to read the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in a series before the 1st. To curb that, I've been checking books online before I buy them or borrow them from the library). I didn't really like the style or the voice in the 2nd book and I didn't really like it in the 1st book. I probably won't like it in the 3rd and 4th either, but what I do like about this series are the ideas and plot line. It's really interesting and not something I have seen before.

As for my jeep. Skoora's Dad insisted that we take it to a dealership to have it checked. The exam for the car was supposed to have been free. Or so I understood it. They lied. They also didn't seem to find anything wrong (because my jeep is a little brat and behaved perfectly for them). So they changed out some filter and the whole shenanigan cost a little over $100. Really? Whatever... Also they ran my gas down so now I have to come up with some gas money or I can't even use the car to see if they actually fixed the problem.

I am all over the place today. I kind of feel like I just need to step away and take a nap (I didn't sleep very well last night, I have lots of nights where the chronic physical pain keeps me awake or wakes me up and you know what, it really sucks). Unfortunately, that nap is just not going to happen.

A semi quiet start to the new year.

Rum Geisha © Hannah Richardson
First, I think I need to change and update all of my passwords again. It could be nothing but it could be something. I just opened up blogger and started a new blog where I got a message stating that I just logged out of another location and would I like to log back in. Grrrrr!

My New Year started quietly with a few games of Rummikub and me coaxing Skoora's mom into drinking a whole bottle of wine. She's not really a drinker. The 1st was spent taking my time in doing almost nothing. I didn't go to the family new year's party, instead I went to Skoora's work and kept her and her assistant manager company for an hour or so. After we got home her parents came in along with a friend from their church and we visited with him meanwhile a Monster High movie was playing in the background. Skoora was kind of nervous about getting ready for her residency.

Skoora worked the 2nd which made things more difficult for her in terms of being ready to go. Still, we got her packed, last minute errands run, and off to the airport in time for her flight. I was a bit worried since the North East was getting slammed with a winter storm but her plane landed safely, the only down side was that she had to spend the night in the airport last night until the bus could take her to the T (subway) in Boston this morning. I stayed up until about 3 am worried even though we sent text to each other and I spoke to her on the phone a couple of times. And despite not getting but a few hours of sleep the night before and being very tired, I just couldn't go to sleep until I knew she was out of the airport and on her way to the college campus. Then it was a matter of her not being next to me in bed. But exhaustion finally won and I fell asleep.

I actually slept until a little after 1 in the afternoon. I really hate sleeping that late but didn't let myself get too upset about considering the circumstances. I haven't really done a lot today either. I've mostly played Game of Thrones Ascent on facebook. I saw the ad for it last night and decided to try it out and off and on today I've played. It's a time waster but it is interesting and fun.

I did manage to get out of the house today and aggravate my back while doing it. I placed a hold on a few jewelry making books and went to go pick them up. After we had dinner, I took Skoora's mom, and Skoora's visiting cousin Amber to Hasting's. I was going to pay for the coffee and Amber's coco but Skoora's mom decided that she would. Then we parted ways in the store, they went to look at some things and I went to look for other things. Skoora's mom kind of rushed me when we met back up again despite me telling her that I was still looking. She wanted to get a book and then I guess decided that she didn't want to wait in line and put it back. In finagling my wallet and my purse, I managed to turn wrong and that's how I managed to make my back hurt worse this time.

Back at home, Skoora's mom and dad watched Monster's University with Amber and I went out to watch for awhile. I stayed until the end of the movie but couldn't sit through another one. Since then I have been holed up in my room editing some photos, looking at what I have on my deviant art page, and yeah, that's about it. I should have logged on to play Guild Wars but I just didn't feel like it. I wanted to read but I didn't feel like doing that either. Writing was on my mind but again, I didn't feel like much of that.

So here I am again, it's the middle of the night. I'm by myself, the cats want to go in and out, and I can't sleep but this time, I really wish I could! I don't think I will sleep very well until Skoora comes home.

Oh and my friend Christine B is coming to visit on Sunday. I'm not sure how long she's going to stay, but I don't care. I don't know if she will buy any fabric or not but she's asked me to make some pillow cases for her.

You know you're a geek when...

Skoora was telling her best friend about a new TV show on Fox called Sleepy Hollow. (The pilot wasn't bad and we're interested in seeing where they go with the show.) She has decided that just from said pilot episode that the show will be like Inuyasha so far as character relationships are going to go.
That there will be some twisted love triangle between a dead person, a person out of time and so forth. That's when I decided that you know you're a geek when you can compare main stream tv characters to anime characters.

Since we've been visiting friends for Skoora's birthday, we've been out and about a little bit. I've felt a bit bad because I can't go as far or as long as everyone else but I've kept up pretty well and I sit and rest when I need too. Consequently, I managed to hurt my back when I was scooting my chair closer to the table at dinner earlier....um well that was yesterday now I suppose since it's seven minutes to 4 am. I'm having a little bout of insomnia which baffles me because I was so tried all day.

Anyway, we've gone to Starbucks twice this weekend and are planning to go again tomorrow. Frankly, that's a real treat! We also managed to walk into Hasting's on the day they were having a 'half off all used books, DVDs, and music' sale. I was able to get three books. Skoora got a book and a movie that she wanted and we spent $15.

Speaking of shopping, I ended up with a new shirt from Wal-mart because I trusted Skoora when she said she would pack some clothes for me. She packed everything but shirts and since it is chilly and I don't have a coat, I found a long sleeved shirt. We normally wouldn't do that, we'd just wear a previously worn shirt, but we need to do a little clothes shopping anyway. We share clothes and we both wear our shared clothes until they are worn out. I recently went through our closet and sent things we weren't wearing, that were still in good condition, to a 2nd hand store and got rid of things that were on their last leg. It's kind of funny, we have so many old T-shirts that are worn out or too small but we wanted to keep that we've decided to make a T-shirt quilt. I'll be the one doing all the sewing of course, but I don't mind. I still have a shirt that my Dad got me when I was little that has a raccoon on it.

Skoora received Monster High dolls for her birthday. I will have to find places for them in the 'haunted house' she made for the dolls for Halloween. She was so excited to get Caty Noir. Of course talking about Monster High dolls you'd assume I was engaged to someone much younger, but I assure you, she turned 30 the day before yesterday. We both just really like Monster High, anime, My Little Ponies, and other kid like stuff and we aren't ashamed of it. We are proud of it and better yet, its something that makes us happy.

All of that aside, I need to try and sleep again. Hopefully, this time I'll be able to.

Fall Finally!

It's that time of year again! My favorite time of year, Fall/Autumn. Tomorrow is Mabon and we are heading out of town tomorrow morning to spend it with some friends who couldn't make it up. Tomorrow also happens to be Skoora's 30th birthday.

We finally got the fall/Halloween decor from the garage. I spent most of yesterday putting it up, not because we have so much, we actually don't have much at all, yesterday I was just feeling really bad physically. Thankfully it's not much work to put some window clings up, put faux flowers in in vases, and set up the few little nick-knacks we have. Skorra made a 'haunted doll house' out of cardboard boxes for our Monster High Dolls.

I feel so much better now that that awful medicine is out of my system. Well, at least I feel more like my usual self. Aside from that I've just been tired, but that's kind of become a normal feeling in the last year or so, so I'm not all that worried.

What I am worried about is Yoda-chan, my eldest cat. At first I thought he was having trouble with arthritis he's a 16 year old cat, it's to be expected. But then Galen, my other cat, has been bullying Yoda a lot more than usual and really trying to push his way in closer to me. Which is very strange because he's always been an anti-social ass. Now, I think it's all of the above. Yoda is a pretty clean cat but I haven't really seen him groom lately and he has mats in his fur, several of which I've had to cut out. He also spends most of his time hiding/sulking under my bed. Usually hes out and sitting with me. And he's really pissed because I keep cleaning the litter from his paws. He doesn't seem to understand that peed on litter stuck in his fur and caked around the pads of his feet isn't a good thing and since he insists on back up into where he just peed instead of walking straight on through the litter box, he's going to have to put up with getting his paws washed. I don't want to find cat litter in my ear again or in my hair. He likes to sleep on my pillow sometimes. I am going to see if I can get him to quit pouting and perk up a little and if he doesn't then I need to talk to the vet to see if there is something that can help him feel a little better, more like himself so he can at least fight Galen back.

Dump time

Isn't it strange how it seems like a lot has happened only it really hasn't? Or vice versa?

I've not really had a good last couple of weeks health wise and so it has taken it's toll on me mentally and emotionally. Today I broke a little and had one of the worst panic attacks I've had in awhile. I've had one just about every day for the last couple of weeks, sometimes even more than one in a day, but today was by far the most intense. Skoora and her Mom had to help calm me down and I feel so awful that they had to see it. I don't like worrying people. But at the same time I was really glad that they were there. Had I been alone, I don't know how long it would have gone on. I am very exhausted now and could probably use a nap.

Panic and pain aside, I've been trying to make the best of things and try to keep moving. We had Skoora's little cousins over yesterday to watch Monster High and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. We showed the girls our dolls and our ponies and let them play. All three of them really enjoyed their time with us and want to come back, which is really nice because they are so fun.

Yoda-Chan has been rather clingy as of late. He seems to want to be everywhere I am and sometimes he insists on being on my lap or in my arms. I don't think he feels very well and I'm going to have to give him a bath again. He's managed to get his feet yucky again with cat litter. Galen has been a bit clingy too. At least in that he seems to nearly always be in the same room with me and even comes up and asks to be petted.

My Dad and I were talking sometime ago about what game we want to play next since it seems like everyone is moving over to Guild Wars 2 and most of the people in our Alliance don't want to switch anymore than we do. And because less people are playing the first set of Guild Wars games, our Alliance Leader seems to think that after a couple of years, they will shut down the servers. There is talk about us all moving over to Elder Scrolls when it comes out. That sounds like a plan to me. But I have been looking at the NCSoft website the last couple of years, checking out what other games they have, and I saw that Aion is completely free to play. So I downloaded it to try it out. So far, I am a level two mage and like it well enough. I also started a Technist character and a Priest character.

I haven't done a lot of writing. I've had a lot of trouble focusing and have been so depressed. But I can't keep letting the pain, depression, and anxiety get in the way of something that used to make me feel so... so, well, when I would get into the zone, I left me and everything else behind. It felt good. There was always something calming about my fingers taping over the keys and at some point I stopped seeing words on the screen and saw other places. I think, if I had someone to discuss and go over my stuff with it might encourage me to write more often and get me back to where I could just sit down at the computer and go at it. But I've not wanted to bother anyone with it which kind of goes back to one of the reasons I get depressed. The little things and the big things kind pile up and press on me until I can't breathe.

You know, sometimes I just wish I could have a mental or nervous breakdown. Then, maybe I could let go and get everything out of my system and start healing, get back to being the person I used to be. Stronger, more assertive, and less likely to take any shit from anyone.
