The Trump thing, The Planed Parenthood thing, catching it from both sides of the field.

Found on pinterest

Normally, I don't really do these kinds of posts and when I have, they have been few and far between. There is always someone who wants to make a stink about them, call me uneducated, or drag me through the dirt for my opinions despite the fact that my opinions are just as valid as theirs and while they might differ, they do not make me evil.  So this is my take on the political scene here in America.

Keep in mind that I hear arguments from both sides- conservative and liberal.

The Planned Parenthood issue. Abortions are not the only services Planned Parenthood offer. however, my Dad mentioned that Planned Parenthood's main function is abortions. I don't truly agree with that assessment, besides, wouldn't you rather have a professional do it than have someone die from trying to do it themselves or an unprofessional do it? Personally, abortion is not for me, but I will never tell anyone else what they can and cannot do with their own bodies. I am not them. My opinion doesn't really matter, nor do my values or belief system. Do I want to pay for someone to have an abortion, no, not really, not unless it is a medical necessity, but I would much rather pay for an abortion than have to pay for the growing welfare problem (one which I am part of by my need for food stamps and health care at the moment), but either way, it is what it is and I think P.P. is a good thing to have around.

In addition to Planned Parenthood, we seriously need to revamp the sexual education approach in our schools. I know a lot of parents don't like the school teaching their kids about this, but a lot of parents are too uncomfortable to talk to their kids about it in the first place. Sex education should not just be one class in primary school and one class in high school. It needs to be addressed all the time. The problem is people are coming away from school not knowing basic things. People aren't seeing that actions and choices have consequences, some of the irreversible, permanent, and life threatening. Of course this doesn't mean that it will stop people from making mistakes or that they will even heed warnings or pay attention to information, but it will help those that do and for those that make mistakes, they will have some knowledge of how to go about dealing with issues.

And in addition to that, someone needs to take the girls aside and tell them about the different complications that can arise with their own bodies as far as cancer and their periods. So we don't have women in their 30s desperately trying to figure out what the fuck is going on when they have an on going period for years. So we don't have people in so much pain and not knowing why. Because doctors won't tell you, they just pass it off. You don't get real answers unless you do your own research and you go to a gynecologist. We also need to have doctors who stop fighting women on getting hysterectomies. Sometimes, the shit just needs to go. Besides, there are so many children stuck in the system, who are unwanted, that we women who couldn't have children if we kept our equipment, could happily adopt and give loving homes to.   Sorry, got off on a small tangent.

A lot of people are up in arms about being denied access birth control. No, that's not true, what's happening is that it will no longer be free. Which for someone like me, would suck really bad. Because most of the women who take birth control aren't taking it to stop pregnancies they are taking it in hopes of regulating their periods. So, yeah, I think its kind of shitty. And yes, I do see it as another hit against women in general. Men don't have these problems, so why would they care?

On to the Trump issue. First of all, I don't like him. I think he is a complete moron, I don't think he really understood what he was getting himself into, and I am not looking forward to the next four years and I think he is a complete sexist twat waffle. Also, I hate the racism and sexism his campaign incited. Did I think Hillary was better, fuck no! I can't stand scheming, lying criminal father than I can throw her and since I'm not supposed to lift more than 5 pounds, I can't throw her at all. Do I think she was better qualified, no, not really, but at least she had a clue to some extent. She might have also fought for women's rights. But she lost and he won.

I was looking over Trump's within the 1st 100 days policies and to be honest, some of them weren't too bad (a lot was trash). If he does what he says he is going to do on the stuff that was half way decent. However, I don't have any hope that they will come into fruition. I think that he is far too focused on what the media thinks about him to really care about anything serious. And I'm vastly alarmed over the fact that I saw an article where in he issued a media black out on the EPA and USDA. Apparently he doesn't buy into global warming. That's fine, but once you start issuing media blackouts on things where does it stop? How soon before- and I am really going out there- we end up like Hitler run Germany? I mean maybe it won't get like that, but then again, a lot of people believed Trump wouldn't win and that Bernie Sanders had a shot. Well the media did everything they could to push him out of the running despite everything.

**Edit- because I write this yesterday- the media black out was confirmed for me, and I am pissed about the keystone pipeline decision. How does that benefit America? It doesn't, it benefits him!

Further, I don't like some of his cabinet. His vice president disgusts me. The woman he wants for the secretary of education is terrible and I think the only reason he wants her is because she is a woman and that might make him look better. Frankly, I would much rather have my Aunt M. who is the grand poobah of early childhood education and development for the state of Nebraska as the secretary of education be at least with her, I know she actually gives a shit about decent education.

There were a lot of people who were talking about high tailing it to other countries because of Trump. There are people who are have to be in therapy because of the "trauma" of his election (which I kind of see as bullshit, but I'm not them, so my opinion doesn't really matter). How about, instead of whining and trying to immigrate, we do something about it? It's so hard, some might say. We are powerless, others might claim, but no, you're not. 1st get your ass out and vote. Second, get off your butt and fight for what you believe in. Women would never have won the right to vote, if they hadn't. Black people wouldn't have freedom or rights if they hadn't. People don't get shit handed to them, they have to fight for it. It is long, it is dehumanizing, it depressing, and people are gonna lose hope, but if you stop fighting, then you have failed, and you have no right to complain. Believe it or not, you are not entitled to shit. You actually have to earn some things.

Today is a cooking and fight with the cat's day.

This is a Bitstrip picture I made for Skoora and I today.
Today is cooking day. No we really aren't going to add dog farts, cat hair or pickled fairy dust to our food or are we? Anyway, I'm taking a break for the moment. I've got sausage cooking on low and we have a double batch of Kaiser rolls in the first 'let rise' stage. We'll punch them down and let them rise again in a little while. Skoora is helping me out because my back and head both hurt pretty bad today. She's cutting up two green bell peppers and a large onion for the breakfast burritos. I've taken my pain meds but they never really take all the pain away and I am okay with that, so long as they take the edge off enough for me to focus and do other things.

We've been fighting with the cats today. They want whatever we are eating when we are eating it no matter what. But they aren't allowed to have our food anymore. We've got one diabetic kitty we don't need three. Oh and I've had to fight Ellie for my chair several times. She's such a punk and jumps right back up the minute I get up.

I hooked my laptop up to the TV via the HDMI cable so we wouldn't have to have my computer in the kitchen to read the Kaiser and Bierock's dough recipes. I know I should just print them off, but I don't have any ink in my printer... But I have Pandora running in the background and decided I wanted to hear a little Abney Park while we cook today. So far so good, I've liked most of what has played on this station.

I think part of the reason I have a headache is because of lack of sleep. I didn't sleep so well last night but hey, at least I was able to see the snow fall for a little while. I love snow but no one else seems to like it very much. Sadly it melted before I woke up this morning, it's still a little too warm during the day for it to stay. I might have said something about this before but I've been keeping track of my sleeping patterns and it seems that I have the most trouble sleeping during the New Moon. I also sleep like the dead during the full moon.

Yoda is yowling for me to come find him and pet him. *sigh* He's so bossy!

Last night was a really good night. I finally got to have Skoora all to myself. Sure, I live with her and she's been my girlfriend for the last six years. We spend time together but most of that time is taken up with each of us reading or writing (in the same room yes), or out running errands. Typically one of us is on the phone with a friend or relative, Skoora often gets lots of texts, and I don't really fuss or demand time with her 'completely alone' because she works and is in the middle of an MFA program. We also live with her parents for the time being so that makes it hard.

So last night, when we were in bed and the phone didn't buzz with a text, or ring, and the computers and TV were shut off (we didn't even have music playing), I was actually able to enjoy her company and converse on a lot of things. We talked about politics and national news station and how ridiculous we find them and the people who get all bent out of shape about what news station is saying what and how. We talked about our friend's politics and how they compared or were different from our own, we talked about our friends (nothing bad just how people are doing), and we talked about writing. We discussed hers and mine, certain ideas and so forth. Like I said it was really nice and I would like more of that more often but it will happen when it happens.

Well, it's time for me to get back to cooking.

Government shut down? Really, Congress, really?

As I am sure the rest of the world along with nearly every American in the USA knows, our Government decided to shut down last night at Midnight. How lame. How pathetic. How inexcusable. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at Americans. No wonder they don't take us seriously.

One of my friends from High School works for the government in some fashion and she is not only NOT getting paid right now but she is REQUIRED to go to work. Explain to me how the hell, in this country, that is even legal? Explain to me why the hell our politicians and president get their pay checks and benefits while my friend and others like her aren't. They aren't better than she is. They aren't better than any other American in this nation. More importantly they ARE NOT more ENTITLED than anyone else just because they are politicians.

The worst part about this is Republicans and Democrats and even the President are all pointing fingers at each other, playing the blame game, refusing to take responsibility for their idiocy, their childish behavior, and complete and utter lack of respect for not only each other but most importantly the American people who hired them in the first place. And we hired them to do a fucking job, pass reasonable and intelligent laws and policies, and protect us from terrorism, not sit on their collective asses and scream at each other like bitchy, spoiled, snot-nosed teenagers.

The fact of the matter is, they don't give a shit about the American people. They just want money, to be exempt from a health care plan that is was bad to begin with, and you know it's bad when they are offered and exemption from it, and they want to move this country out of the realm of democracy and into something very akin to Socialist and or Fascist State. Why? So that they have all the power and money to do whatever the fuck it is they want to do and no one can fuss about it.

Frankly, I'm so sick and tired of this shit. I'm so sick and tired of politicians pushing to have more power, more invasions of privacy under the guise of 'we're just trying to protect you', more bitching about people having guns and always, always blaming on mental illness instead of recognizing that some people are just fucking EVIL, and most of all I am so sick and tired of them fueling the wildfires of a class war that they most likely planted the seeds of.  Things need to change and they need to change soon. Congress AND the President need to grow the fuck up, stop fighting, and come up with some damned compromises. There MUST be some give and take.

On women, the economy, and gay marriage...

When I've been able to sit at the computer for any length of time I usually hop around Facebook. I like to catch up on the doings and events of friends and family and you got me, I play Sims and Castleville. Don't judge, sometimes a little mindless point and click game is more relaxing and distracting than you know. Anyway, I have several friends who just love to post things from "Americans Against the Tea Party", "Being Liberal", and "Americans Against Islamaphobia". I don't really mind these posts too much and pretty much ignore them for the most part. Except the one saying Jesus is Middle Eastern posted by Being Liberal-  No shit! You don't have to have paid attention in Sunday school to figure that out.

Well, okay there have been some other posts posted by friends and family that I have read, else I wouldn't be at this point. That said, I do have one friend in particular who loves to spam with messages from these pages. She's often put up a warning stating that if people don't like it then they can unsubscribe from her page. That's all fine and dandy but once you unsubscribe, you don't get her actual status messages anymore either and since she is a friend that I do care about, I haven't unsubscribed. I just have the good sense to ignore a good majority of what she posts and keep my opinions to myself... Or at least I do now because to have an adverse opinion with this girl is kind of a crime. She's pretty much told me that if I don't agree with her and refuse to see it her way, to quietly message her privately. That was not one of her shining moments in being a good friend and frankly, since then its become abundantly clear that she can't handle anyone calling her on her bullshit or giving her any opposite opinion. Frankly, she's a fanatic, a zealot even when it comes to almost everything. A few of us just let her say whatever it is she wants to say whether or not we agree or actually know better. Call that being a bad friend all you want, but you try arguing with a chihuahua who has lock jaw, you'll give up too.

So, in knowing several of these happy spammers, I see a lot of things I don't agree with and tons of propaganda that shits on Republicans and anyone else not 'of their ilk' and all of them glorifying President Obama. I also see a lot of posts advocating 'good causes' or spreading 'awareness'. Some more recently and most definitely covering a couple of topics in the news is the subject of women and their rights and so on.
Yes, I am a woman. Yes, I do believe in equal rights for all. But all these new problems we are having, the abortion issue (which has been around for decades), birth control, paying women equally in the work force, and now 'Your opinion doesn't count because you're a stay at home Mother/house wife' is all a ploy.

Now, before people get their panties in a wad, I'm not saying these issues aren't out there, that they aren't fair or right or moral and all that jazz. What I am saying is, I believe that the government and people in politics and  power are making outlandish laws and proposals to distract the American people from the major issues like gay marriage and the economy. If they can 'save' us poor defenseless women from the evil workings of the Republicans and religious power mongers, then they will be our saviors and we'll vote for them, never mind that a good deal of them probably don't give a rats ass about anyone but themselves. And in distracting us, we will not pester them so hard about gas prices, the economy, and whether or not they are going to sell us out or destroy our nation by converting it to communism, the things we really need to be calling them out on.

My response to the ones in power, "You're trying too hard, you might want to start rethinking that strategy".

Major Rant!

I'm not settling in in the pacific northwest as easily as I had hoped. In fact I think it will take a lot longer than it did last time.  I've been really depressed and every time I get upset, I've been turning to food of some kind to soothe me, which isn't really like me... until now apparently. People I thought liked me completely ignored me at my girlfriend's family xmas party. That was upsetting and the whole thing made me feel extremely out of place. Also my girlfriend's parent's have made me feel rather awkward. I offer to cook and offer suggestions of things i can make and they want to change things on me. They aren't happy with my recipes, its like they don't want me to cook some times but when I do cook they always tell me how good the food is. It's really confusing.

Then there is all the noise. Mom-in-law is constantly talking over her husband and he's always complaining  about what isn't done and what needs to be done and my girlfriend is being obnoxious or carrying on conversations by herself or with me... I can't carry on a conversation with any one, I can't even finish a sentence. Just having some trouble trying to find a comfortable place. It used to be in the kitchen cooking or cleaning here and there but I'm starting to think that I may just have to confine myself to the bedroom when it's finished.

On to politics. I'm conservative, a lot more so than a lot of my friends and maybe it's because I was brought up with different values, the location in which I grew up, or any number of things, but being conservative up here seems to be a dirty thing. I hate it. I hate feeling like I am going to have to change my political views to accommodate everyone else. I shouldn't have to and I should have the right to talk about my feelings and beliefs as much as anyone else. Frankly, from I have seen of the oh so glorious liberals is unless you agree with them, you're stupid and have to be reeducated. And they think they have won an argument just because I refuse to argue with them anymore. They aren't right, they haven't won, I simply don't have the energy to deal with them anymore. And I am so sick of everyone butting in and telling me without saying out right that I am wrong because I refuse to vote democrat or agree with democrat ideals. Really, this is getting ridiculous and I'm getting sick of it.

And whatever happened to regular, fun facebook status messages? Nearly all of my friends are posting political crap on their facebook, especially on the Occupy Wall Street bullshit. There is protesting going on all over the world and we're the only country whining about money and entitlements. WTF America, WTF?!

Family gatherings, moving, and whatever else I happen to rant/talk about.

Went to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving dinner today. Grandma made one of her mouthwatering, delicious, home-cooked dinners. We had: turnkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade macaroni and cheese, turkey gravy, a relish/vegetable/cheese tray, orange jello with mandarin oranges, pistachio pudding, apple pie with ice cream, and Pumpkin pie with whipped cream. My uncle went out and got some Thai meal that didn't have any meat in it for my vegetarian friend and made it for her to go with all the vegetables. I thought that was really nice of him. It was a really wonderful meal and the last time for awhile that I will have my Grandmother's cooking.

Typically I am geared up to deal with my cousin Dashiell bouncing off the walls and my Uncle being a shithead and my Aunt shooting disapproving looks my way. But Dashiell was almost a polite, normal kid today. Almost. My Aunt was really nice to me. My Uncle was even nice for the most part but he tried to get me to talk politics with him. I refuse to discuss politics with him because he's a little bitch about it. He's one of those who can't handle someone else having a difference in opinion and god help us all if you're not on his team. It's so childish. He also didn't like how tired I was, which is his problem. And apparently he and my friend got along pretty darn well, she too shares his political views and if you have different opinion or she thinks you are wrong, there is no winning. In fact she's pretty much made me feel like an idiot just because I refused to fight with her about something that she was completely wrong about. Which is why she and I don't really talk politics anymore.

But all in all, it was a nice afternoon. We took family pictures in the yard, talked, Grandpa put money in my back pocket and we had a little fight about me trying to give it back.

On to moving. I'm not okay with this. I'm giving up almost everything but my things all over again. I keep trying to tell myself that this move will be better for me and have been trying to be more positive but the reality is, I'm really not okay. I'm terrified and I think this move might actually be worse for me in the long run, over all. I don't know what I'm going to do. I guess I'm going to keep pushing until I can't.

the Occupy Wallstreet protestors and V for Vendetta

I've been following the Occupy Wallstreet movement, not because I agree with them, but because I'm trying to keep up with all that is going on. First let me state that I am not a Democrat. While Democrats have some good ideas, they are too few and far in between for me to ever be comfortable voting for them. I am not a Republican either, I am a Libertarian but I am not as conservative as a majority of them.

Secondly, make no mistake, I am not attacking those who legitimately cannot work or who are retired.

From what I have gathered, the Occupy Wallstreet protestors are saying they are the 99% and for them 99% means that they are not wealthy, thus calling those who have millions and billions the 1%. They want the government to tax the rich and spread the wealth.

Let me ask a question. How would you feel if the government came to you and ordered you to pay more taxes, thus downgrading your way of life, no matter how extravagant it is, so other people could benefit. How would you like it if they told you the money you earned can't be used to buy a new car, send your kids to college, buy clothes or food. Or that you couldn't use the money for that vacation with your family you've put off for years because you had to work long hours and save up the money in a special savings account just to go.

Perhaps you would agree and perhaps you wouldn't. I, for one, wouldn't. But maybe that's because I am no stranger to the 99% and what most of them are really like.

Most, not all of the 99%, are on welfare, SSI, food stamps, ect... A lot of them don't work, not because they physically or mentally can't, but because they are too lazy. A lot of them abuse the system because why the hell would they want to work for a living when they can sit on their ass and collect money from the government. People even use their children to get money, after all the more you have the more money you can make off them.

That's right, I said it. I've seen so many pictures of people holding up the "I am the 99%" posters listing their useless college degrees, the debt they owe, how they are jobless, and even some say what they do all day none of which is looking fora job. And they all seem to think that they are owed something, that they are entitled to something.

Perhaps I am being too harsh and unsympathetic. However, I don't think so. I was raised that it doesn't hurt you to want, if you want something you work for it, no one owes me shit, life is hard, and most importantly, to do my best to be self-sufficient, independent, and not a burden to other people. While I am not in a position at the moment to be completely self-sufficient due to a back injury, I am still trying to go to school and still trying to do things around the house. I have been a bit unsuccessful but the point is that I am still trying.

So I think it's a bit wrong for a bunch of people to stand various places complaining about their lack of wealth when they are not perusing education or job seeking to help themselves. I have seen videos and pictures of people smoking pot at these events, a lot haven't showered, a lot are accusing Libertarians, the Tea Party and Republicans of racism while a lot of them are attacking Jews. And a lot of them are littering all over the place.

I have also seen reports that people are getting attacked sexually at these events. And sickening as that is, what's worse is these idiots aren't calling the police, they are handling it in their own way, which is to chase the rapists and molesters away. They should be capturing these monsters and detaining them for the police so these monster can't come back and hurt more people.

What is more alarming is that some are masquerading as V from V for Vendetta. They have completely misconstrued the whole premise of the movie which is that the government should not regulate and control people's lives, what they eat, how they spend their money, or take certain freedoms away from people. Instead they are twisting V's mission into one of their own. It's very ironic that they want the very thing the movie is fighting against.

Posting on 3 hours of sleep and absent my glasses...

Yes, as the title states, I am posting on merely 3 hours of sleep and I've left my glasses downstairs thinking that I was only getting up to see where my girlfriend and cats went. I ended up playing on my computer and grabbing a couple of crackers to munch on. If there are any terrible errors, just remember that I can't see the text clearly and no, I am not going to go fetch my glasses so I can.

Anyway, thankfully, the migraine induced by my homework went away thanks to the help of some medication and sleep. I have two more sessions of this class and hopefully I will be finished with it.

Learned something new last night/ 3:30 am, when I finally finished with my homework. I have not been keeping up with some political blogs that I try to keep up with and come to find out, Vice President Biden has decided that anyone in the Tea Party is a "terrorist" and when confronted with it by a Tea Party member, President Obama pretty much agreed without confirming or denying. It's nice to know that people who want to return to the ways of smaller government and the ideals and principals that this country was founded on are now known as "terrorists". And of course the gov, officials won't just stop at naming Tea Party members and activists, they'll move on to plain old Libertarians and anyone else who doesn't think like them. Nice to know my country is run by a bunch of spoiled children who piss on you when they don't get their way and piss on you again just for the hell of it. Really, it's enough to make anyone question their sanity.

Speaking of sanity, I think I am very quickly losing mine. Yesterday I got into a fight with my girlfriend. She decided that picking a fight with me about my very mild case of road rage was a good idea and then progressed onto other issues. When I got home my mom demanded to know what was wrong with me and I finally told her after several minutes of her nagging me. That of course turned into a fight when she accused me of being inconvenienced the night before last by having to stay the night at Grandma's. Let me make this clear, I am never inconvenienced or put out by having to stay the night at Grandma's. I love staying the night over there. The cause for this impromptu stay was that Grandma was sick and needed some help. I was glad to stay but my mom always likes to think the worst of me. *sigh* Mom and I will probably have issues until the day one of us dies.

To end on a much lighter and safer note, I was in my parent's bedroom last night gathering up some laundry and saw a tidbit of a SciFi show called Eureka. Two of the cast members from The Guild were guest starting on the episode, Felicia Day and Will Wheaton. I didn't stay to watch the episode, I had homework to do and laundry, but it was really nice to see them on TV.

Disturbing my inner zen

In the last couple of days, I've had a moment or two to scan some political websites I like to read. The GF and I don't have cable or local channels, it was a matter of cable or internet and since we would get more use out of the internet we chose the internet. Anyway, since playing catch up, I've learned some things that down right send ripples in my proverbial inner pool of calmness.

A.) Apparently President Obama and his goons are working to toss out the second amendment of the US Constitution. For those who don't know that's the right to bare arms. You know what I say to that. FUCK THEM! There's no way in hell I'm giving up my gun, or the guns I will inherit when my grandparents and parents pass. And there is no way I am giving up my swords or knives either. I'm a fat, white female. I neither know martial arts nor can I run that fast. I'm not helpless, but to quote the GF's father "It's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6". Meaning it's better to go on trial for hurting or killing someone in self defense rather than to be dead in a casket and carried to my final resting place by six.

B.) I also learned that some college student and faculty at Georgetown want to ban right wing, conservative internet sites. They also don't want conservatives on TV or radio because they "corrupt" and are "dangerous" to their political agendas/values/ and what not. And this is while while they claim to want to "protect free speech".

C.) There is also the matter of a California High School suspending some high school seniors who wore white t-shirts for their senior pictures. Why? Because they claim that wearing white was other students were offended and threatened by their shirts and that they were also part of some white supremacist gang. But not all of the students wearing white that day are even white. At least one of the kids was Asian.

Frankly, I'm getting sick and tired of all this BS. I'm tired of people trying to take away my rights and those of others.
